High-value jewellery has been taken in a £12,000 burglary at a house in Farnham – one of a spate of burglaries in Surrey.
Police said the crimes had taken place in daylight hours in recent weeks in Farnham, Haslemere, Chiddingfold and Godalming.
housholders have been urged to watch out for a stolen blue Vauxhall Vectra, registration R477 BJN, which could be connected to a sequence of offences.
Residents should lock up their houses during the day, police said.
The most recent burglary was on Monday afternoon in Old Church Lane, Farnham, when thieves got into a house through a window and stole a laptop computer, two iPods and rings, watches and bracelets.
Diamond rings
The £12,000 raid happened in Waverley Lane, Farnham, hours previously on the same day.
Offenders first tried to force a secure window before gaining entry via the roof to an insecure window.
They took jewellery including a Longines watch worth £2,500, a diamond ring, photographic equipment and a video camera.
In another burglary in Park Road, Haslemere, a victim lost a brooch she wore on her wedding day, together with an emerald and diamond engagement ring, a gold wedding ring, and other jewellery.
In that incident on 5 July, thieves used a metal bar to force entry through a back door.
Crime reduction adviser John Robini said people should ensure all doors and windows were locked when they left the house during the day, fit and use an alarm system, photograph jewellery and valuable items and keep them in a safe, leave a radio on when out, and ask a neighbour to remove any parcels left at the door.
