“We believe you should enjoy the same sophisticated fingertip control over your home as you have when you’re sitting in the driving seat of your car. And we can make it possible.”
CEO MR Fire & Security Group
With over twenty-five years of experience in enhancing and protecting homes, Tony Bygraves might be forgiven for being a little blasé about the business. But he’s as excited as ever about the ways his company, MR Fire & Security, can help his clients feel secure and comfortable in their living environment.
“We’re in continual dialogue with the developers of cutting edge systems – everything from fire protection, through advanced security systems that stay a step ahead of the criminal, to climate control, lighting, and home entertainment. We only use the best manufacturers – like Crestron , and Gent, which are part of Honeywell, – and the best manufacturers only entrust their equipment to the best installers. It’s a matter of protecting our mutual reputations, in a business where attention to detail is everything.”
Bygraves has long felt that our homes – despite being the most important things in our lives – have lagged behind our other prized possessions where technology is concerned.
“You know, the revolutionary French architect Le Corbusier famously declared ‘Une maison est une machine-a-habiter’ – that’s to say, we should think of a house as a machine for living in. That was in 1923. He went on to design and construct some of the most stunning and visionary houses of the Twentieth Century. But I can’t help feeling he must have been frustrated that, in his lifetime, the technology simply didn’t exist that would have allowed him to build in the kind of comfort, convenience and security that he would have liked.”
But the technology does exist now, and MR Fire & Security Group are at the forefront of incorporating it into peoples’ homes.
“We’re currently working with major property developers who turn to us to help them incorporate the best systems into the luxury homes they’re building. But – of course – we use our skills and experience most often to engineer automated security, fire protection, environment control and entertainment systems into existing properties.”
Bygraves uses a motoring analogy to make his point. He says that what his company now offers clients is the ability to control their living environment and security as easily, conveniently and instinctively as if they were behind the wheel and dashboard of a luxury car.
“You can have pretty well anything your heart desires. MR Fire & Security Group are fully accredited installers of Gent’s supremely intelligent computerised fire and security equipment like Vigilon and S-Quad as well as being approved by Crestron to integrate their advanced home automation equipment. So we have the expertise and resources to provide our clients with everything it takes to make your chosen lifestyle safer, happier, easier, more entertaining.”What exactly does that mean in real terms?
“Well, if you want whole house audio and video that emlulates the experience of going to a movie premiere, it’s yours at a touch of your finger. If you want harmonised integration of your communications and Internet access, it’s there. If you want to change the temperature in individual rooms, you’ll be able to do it – even when you’re far from home. If you want to control the lighting all over your home, inside the house and at the perimeter and gates of your property, we’ll give you the power to do that. Garage doors, swimming pool, security cameras, voice-recognition entry, curtains, hot water, air conditioning – all there for you to command.”
One of the things that most pleases Tony Bygraves is that his expert teams are able to incorporate all these (and many more) systems into homes without allowing them to dominate the living space. Minimalism is the name of the game when it comes to installing them.
“We’re all about enhancing our clients’ living environment. So aesthetics and simplicity are just as high on our agenda as effectiveness. Nobody has to be a technology geek to operate anything. The systems Crestron have developed are sophisticated and clear and simple to use. And the touchpanels – whether they’re built into a coffee table, mounted on your wall or handheld wireless – are as discreet and unostentatious as you could possibly wish for.”
A telling indication of the high standards MR Fire & Security sets itself is that when an installation team comes to your property they’ll be dressed immaculately. “I insist on it. My employees are all professionals, expert in what they do. They’re very smart people, handling the smartest of smart equipment. I like them to dress accordingly.”
Yes, protecting and enhancing peoples’ living spaces is all about attention to detail.”
